We love snow!! but only for a few days.....

Awwww what beautiful snowy scenes !!

makes you feel so happy and christmassy....

but when you get snow you can also get....

Dirty snowmen !!! HOW FUNNY !!!

When I found this pic I was actually innocently looking for snowmen pics but then it gave me an idea...

How creative could you get with snow if you were really talented of course?? (not me)

Will  you just look at that.....

and that!!! surly that is fake??

and rock on with the snow Simpson's

These are fabaroo can you even imagine how long and how many people
it would take to do something like that??

and how gutted would you feel when it melted?

I am soooo impressed with these. Snow is still a luxury that we on the east coast of England are rarely blessed with. Even when it does snow we are super lucky if it settles never mind builds up enough to build even a tiny snow baby with.

How do you feel about snow then?? do you get lots?? are you like a kid in it?
or are you sick of it already??

linking for the sake of it!!

Get me!!!! I have learned how to link.... so I'm going to show off now.

It's Sunday night and the weekend is almost over now....boo hiss. I am sat chilling post bath time watching the oh soooo exciting climax of the X factor series. The two lads Joe and Olly are in the final an I have got to say for the first time in the history of the show I sooo pleased they are both in the final. I really like both of these lads and would be happy for either to win.

My photo swap pic's ~~ from Dream sequins

I recently took part in a photo swap organised by Rhianne 'for the easily distracted'. My partner was Deanne from 'Dream sequins'. These are the pic's Deanne took for me and you can find the pic's I took for Deanne on her blog.

This project was a great idea and I had loads of fun taking part and it really made me see my home town with new eyes.

Mind blowing !!

I am on week three in my new post!!
I am really enjoying my new job so far and I am soooooooo enjoying being back at work. However  if I had a dutiful wife/slave at home to clean the house do the laundry and shopping and have a nice tea on the table awaiting my return from work would make life sooooo much easier!!
I had really forgotten how tough it can be to juggle work, kids and the house all at once while I was a stay home Mum.

But some of this training I have been subjected to is rather mine blowing!! and I do not mean that in a fasinating awe struck way.... No I mean I wanna blow my own brains out!! awww well only another couple of weeks of it. xx

Dear Hubby,

Did you know I am going back to work ?? which means I can no longer be your mother and you are going to have to start and do the odd thing for yourself..you know like breathing etc..
Good luck with that and if you can cope I might even show you where the iron and hoover live so you can pull your weight a bit..haha.

much love

The boss

Dear kids,

Grandma will be collecting you big ones from school and looking after you little one all day while I work. (Yippee I get to be a real person again for 22.5 hrs per week) Please don't take the mic and use up all your good behaviour with her and only have the bad behaviour left over for when I collect you. And while we are on the subject,  no stuffing yourselves with junk while at Grandma's. Even if you fib I will know you know....I have you micro chipped and bugged!! I will see and hear everything.

Much love

What is with customer service nowadays??

I hope you are sitting comfortably as I feel a rant approaching at about 100 miles an hour!!....deep breath...

The other day I went to Matalan to do a bit a shopping with kids in tow (first mistake). Anyhoo after waiting in the que for a hundred years...or 10 minutes the spotty student told me the til wouldn't scan so had to........ v e r y  s l o w l  y  key in the very looooong bar code for each item. When finally done I shoved my card in the reader and entered my pin. To be told by same spotty student that the system had crashed and she would have to start again manually keying in each item even more s l o w l y.
...again I shoved in my card and was told again that the system had crashed (frig this is pissing me right off now I only wanna pay for my stuff before children in tow explode of boredom).
Spotty student went to retrieve the manager whom looked like a bull dog chewing a wasp I might add!!
Said bull dog repeated the whole process that spotty student had and with same result !!! (argh)

I suggest very calmly that they might run my stuff through a different til as this one was obviously faulty. Bull dog resented my idea but finally gave. As bull dog was sending me to the next til I asked for proof that my 4 attempts at putting my card in the machine hadn't been charged. Said bull dog barked at me that the system had crashed it had  not taken my payment.(ok very scary lady). After finally paying for my goods I started to walk away from the til but had this nagging feeling that I should not trust bull dog with my money and should get proof I hadn't pain numerous times.
I went to customer services and waited again..... nice lady listened to my story of spotty student and bull dog and called to the office for Mr greasy to assist. Mr Greasy was actually very helpful although Greasy and odd. He ran a check on the computer and told me I had actually paid a few times for my goods.
No friggin way can you imagine that if i had trusted bull dog I would have shelled out far too much cash!!!
Mr Greasy gave me a refund. (few) however when I asked him for an apology and pointed out how bull dog had spoken to me and also that if I hadn't of pushed this i would of been out of pocket. He seemed baffled that I should have a problem with them as he was giving me my over payments back!!
Bloody check. and this whole process took in excess of 30 mins while my kids drove me batty wanting to go.
Well I took Mr Greasy's name and Bull dogs and sped home in a proper strop!!...straight to my pc to email a big shouty complaint to Matalan!!.....
and guess what??? ......
Avery nice lady phoned me from Matalan appalled at my story and so extremely apologetic for my treatment!! told me my complaint is being investigated and both Mr Greasy and Bull dog will be dealt with very seriously and by way of an apology they will send me some vouchers!!! eerrmm well we shall see how really very sorry they are by the value of my voucher !! watch this space!!

Letters from Santa Claus for Kids at Christmas with the NSPCC

Letters from Santa Claus for Kids at Christmas with the NSPCC

Well yesterday was a really tough day for me.
My safeguarding children/Child protection training was up for renewal. I usually really enjoy taking part in training days...usually! This one is a really tough one for me though because it always really breaks my heart to hear of the despicable and unthinkable things some adults can do to inocent children. So when ever I  renew this training it's always particularly painful for me.

Yesterday was no exception, in fact it was probably the most heart wrenching one I have done yet!! The course was delivered my a pediatric nurse with over 20 years experience working with abused children. So you can only imagine the horrors she had encountered during her career.
After returning home to my children and looking in to their sweet inocent faces. Faces that have never and hopefully never, ever will know of the great atrocities too many children live through. I decided maybe I should do my bit to help one of the charities that work so hard to touch the lives of these poor children. The N.S.P.C.C. is the leading charity that works so hard for children's rights etc so I decided to support them.

The purpose of my post today is to ask anyone that might be reading to please take a minute to think of children that are suffering abuse and if possible donate to the N.S.P.C.C. I know times are tough on people financially and it's something I never usually ask.
Please check out the site and see if you can help...or please spread the word of the letters from Santa by the N.S.P.C.C.
Many people pay for letters like this for their children but if they use these ones at least the fee goes to a worthy cause.
Thank you  xx

Guy Fawkes  !!!

Guy Fawkes day poem
Remember, remember, the 5th of November

The Gunpowder Treason and plot ;

I know of no reason why Gunpowder Treason

Should ever be forgot.

Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes,

'Twas his intent.

To blow up the King and the Parliament.

Three score barrels of powder below.

Poor old England to overthrow.

By God's providence he was catch'd,

With a dark lantern and burning match

Holloa boys, Holloa boys, let the bells ring

Holloa boys, Holloa boys, God save the King!

Hip hip Hoorah !

Hip hip Hoorah !

A penny loaf to feed ol'Pope,

A farthing cheese to choke him.

A pint of beer to rinse it down,

A faggot of sticks to burn him.

Burn him in a tub of tar,'

Burn him like a blazing star.

Burn his body from his head,

Then we'll say: ol'Pope is dead.

Hull Fair ..whoop whoop!!

Wowie tonight is the start of our very own taveling fair yippie I can't wait!!

A LITTLE HULL FAIR HISTORY

This carnival of merriment is the largest travelling fair in Europe and one of the oldest - the fair celebrated its seven hundredth anniversary in 1994.

THESE DAYS

As September approaches locals in the city where I live look forward to October and the annual fair. If truth be known these days as many locals probably dread this annual occurrence as anticipate it. However it is a tradition that as a child I loved and actually I still love it.

IN THE FIFTIES.

The Fair opened on the first Saturday of October and ran until around 11pm on the next Saturday. The fair was always closed on a Sunday and local children would mosey around the fairground on a Sunday afternoon hoping to collect small coins that had been dropped or forgotten.

The fair was the largest travelling fair in England and was really an amalgamation of many fairs which toured during the summer months and met up in Hull each October. The fair was and still is situated on waste ground on Walton Street, in Kingston-Upon-Hull.

Even back then there was talk of relocating this fair but it has never materialised to this day. These days the Walton street fairground is used throughout the years for markets and car boot sales.  The bonus is these days much of the fairground had been levelled and is tarmac. Years ago it was mainly cinder paths and the often wet and windy October weather left a muddy messy area underfoot.

Back in the fifties and sixties the fair incorporated stalls such as The Fat Lady, small zoos and other peculiarities. A local tramp come eccentric called Roland could be seen outside some of the stalls trying to entice visitors inside. With his walking stick and strange attire he was quite a scary character to children.

The fair was large and had many rides. The actual street is long, with a park at one end, and links two main roads of the city. This road has stalls selling candy floss, chips, hotdogs, novelty dolls, balloon's and more, lining both sides of the street. The smells and sounds were always as much a part of a visit to the fair as the actual attractions.

There was a time when Spring Bank West had twinkling lights along it leading to the fair. These disappeared years ago.

HULL FAIR TODAY.

These days the fair is brash and noisy but I guess it always was. The rides are expensive and the  loud music provides a real buzz. The actual fairground covers a 16 acre area. Each night the fairground is always busting at the seams with not only local's but people actually travel from far and wide to get in on the action. The Lord or Lady Mayor of Hull still officially opens the fair.

From late September travellers arrive in Hull and park up their caravans at West Park which is near Walton Street. Once the fair is up and running the air is full of smells such as fries and hot dogs, roasted chest nuts and candy floss. We live at the other end of the city however we can still see the lights and here the buzz from miles around.
One thing local residents say at this time of year is “I can smell Hull Fair is on the way” and that “its Hull Fair weather”. I guess smelling Hull Fair is about associating it with the start of autumn. Hull Fair weather means that it is usually wet and windy. Of course when you are young the fair is fun even in appalling weather.

The Guild Hall

Today was a really great day!!
I am a Governor at me local primary school so often get called upon to help out on trips etc. Today I went with a class of 26 yr 5 children (aged 9 and 10) to the Guild hall.
We went for a tour of the building which is absolutely fabulous inside with fantastic marble and carvings etc. Then we went to see how the court works, although the guild hall courts have not been used for some time they have  been preserved  and they're used  for schools. We got to learn about how the court system would have worked in Victorian times. The class was split up in to groups and we had a chance to take part in a mock trial. This was fantastic as they really all got stuck in. We had the Judge and the Jury, the defendant and his lawyer the prosecution, police, court clerk, witnesses and even the court security and press. All I might add were dressed in period costume!! It was really fantastic. The background was taken from the story/ film 'The water babies' about a young boy used to climb up chimney's by the master sweep. It was great fun. They even got taken down to the cells and locked it!!

Then we spent the afternoon at the local art gallery which was a lovely way to finish off the day. But now I am bushed...I could never in a million be a primary school teacher!! Those guys have some real stamina !!

Yeeeeeeeeeeeha and ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!

Listen can you hear that sound??? it's the most wonderful sound I have heard ALL day!

That sound is silence....well kind of silence with the gentle bubbling sound of a delicious glass of wine (sand piper) being poured....ahhh chilaxin !!

My children have been on overdrive since getting in from school...they have each had a couple of friends over booming out the music and bouncing around the living room, the kitchen, their bedrooms and even on the stairs!

They have been practising for their first street dance competition to be held at Hull University next month and at one point I think there were about 10 of them dancing the same steps...pretty kewl actually in limited space.

But now the last of the over energetic gems has left my two big en's are watching dvd's in their room and my little one is sleeping!!!!

ahhh bliss it is Friday!!!!
I get to drink too much wine.....become a gigglin fool talking right through what ever film me and the Mr watch and then the mister gets to guide me to bed...remind me to take off my make up and.....the rest i'll keep between me and the Mr cheers xxxx

I hope you all have a fab Friday my lovey's xxxxxxxxx
